Hwa Chong Interact Club is organising an International Understanding Week entitled
"CARITAS - Acts of Love",
and it's happening THIS WEEK!
Monday - Opening Night (7.30pm, LT3)
Not only do you get to enjoy a night of entertainment, all guests are all entitled to a Mango Madness discount voucher!Other exciting prizes stand to be won, and all you have to do is to pay attention to our invited guest
speaker from UNIFEM, a choral performance by Bai He Ladies Singers, a theatre piece by Yellow Chair Production and a band performance by our very own Hwa Chong students! (: Learn more about international woman and children issues, while enjoying yourself and earning prizes - all at Opening Night.
Tuesday & Wednesday - Fringe Activities (2-5pm, Inner Plaza)
Come down to the Inner Plaza to play games with instant win prizes! Check out our SMS competition, where you simply have to type out a short text under 60 seconds to win yourself a prize! Other exciting games include dart games, chapteh and an Australia-originated traditional game "Down, Down, Down!"
For those who love to cam-whore, there will be a SMILES CAMPAIGN drive, where we will take photos of you to compile into a slideshow to show the world that we care about the world's issues and are willing to make an
effort to put smiles on others' faces too!
Also, from Wednesday to Friday, there will be a Mother's Day Tribute booth, where you'll be able to buy ready-made or personalised cards for your mother, so you won't have to worry about getting a gift for your mother on Mothers' Day (this Sunday!)
Thursday & Friday - Fair (2-5pm, Inner Plaza)
The highlight of CARITAS 2009 would be the fair in which Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) such as Blessings in a Bag, Scribbly Friends, (ONE)Singapore, Operation Smile, Children's Cancer Foundation, aidha, RiverKids, Club Rainbow, and many more!
But the fun activities are not limited to these NPO booths! There will be international food tasting, book-loaning (courtesy of National Library Board), a refugees corner where you will be able to relax and watch videos, and many many more!
Remember to check out the photo exhibition LIFE OF MY SISTERS, featuring Nepalese girls and their education, in aid of My Little Sisters Fund.
If you're just itching to buy something, find out more about ETHICAL TRADE and purchase fair trade coffee and other foodstuffs while you're at it!
What's more, if you're part of the first 100 guests on each day to complete your stamp card (which you can get at the fair), you will receive a FREE GOODY BAG, which is a tote bag containing free gifts such as Asia! Magazine, Asian Geographic magazine, Mr Bean vouchers, pencils and other enticing items!
